Astec Industries have officially launched the new A50 jaw crusher, the first model in their new A-series line of jaw crushers. Said by the US off-highway equipment industry major to represent a ‘bold evolution’ in crushing technology, the A50 is the beginning of a new era for Astec – one that will see a full line-up of A-series jaw crushers introduced over the coming months and years.
Drawing on the proven legacy of Pioneer, Telsmith, and Osborn jaw crushers, the A50 is an evolution of decades of engineering excellence, designed for high performance in demanding primary applications. The A50 delivers on durability, performance and includes many new features for safer operation and maintenance.
‘The A50 jaw crusher is a true representation of what we can achieve through our OneASTEC NPD strategy. By bringing together the best engineering expertise and proven designs from across our legacy brands, we’ve created a machine that represents both our legacy and establishes a new benchmark in future jaw crusher design. The A50 sets a new standard in crushing performance and is the start of an exciting new chapter in crushing technology,’ said vice-president of product management, Stephen Whyte.
Key features of the A50 include its keyed and bolted frame, said to eliminate high-stress welded joints for enhanced structural integrity and long-term durability. Solid side plates remove weak points and cutouts in mainframe side plates, boosting reliability and adding strength where required. The model’s cast swing jaw with angled wear plate prevents material bridging and strengthens high-stress zones for superior performance under heavy loads. The A50’s longer liners with improved nip angle are said by Astec to maximize material grip, reduce wear, and increase crushing efficiency.
Further standout elements of the A50 jaw crusher include its interchangeable fixed and swing liners, extending wear part life, while also simplifying maintenance and lowering operating costs. Furthermore, the A50 has patented interchangeable toggle assemblies, high inertia flywheels and engineered rubber isolation mounts, isolating crushing forces to reduce stress on chassis frames and mounting structures.
Astec say the new A50 honours their legacy while delivering safer, easier operation and maintenance, helping customers lower their cost per ton.
