The Northern Miner has launched the GoldQuest Challenge, a new international competition designed to introduce students to the world of gold exploration and mining, with the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Canada to attend one of the country’s leading mining conferences.
Students who participate will complete a short monthly quiz exploring topics related to gold, mining, and the role of precious metals in the global economy. Each completed quiz earns one entry into the grand prize competition.
From all participants, 20 qualified students will be selected to submit a short essay on a gold-related theme. The winning essay will be chosen by an expert panel from the global mining industry.
The GoldQuest Challenge Grand Prize includes:
• Round-trip travel to Canada
• Hotel accommodations and meals
• Full conference access and networking opportunities with industry professionals
The winning student will have the opportunity to attend one of two major mining conferences:
CIM Convention — Vancouver, Canada (May 3–6, 2026)
or
Xplor Conference — Montreal, Canada (October 27–30, 2026)
Both events bring together leaders in mineral exploration, mining innovation, and global resource development—providing a unique opportunity for students to learn, connect, and explore careers in the industry.
We invite international university students to participate in the challenge, test their knowledge, and compete for an unforgettable professional experience in Canada.
We also encourage professors and faculty members to share this opportunity with students studying geology, mining engineering, earth sciences, economics, and related fields.
