Rep. John Joyce visited Volvo Construction Equipment on Thursday, Aug. 15, in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, to talk about the importance of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and answer questions from the more 300 employees in attendance on other important issues impacting equipment manufacturers, including infrastructure and workforce development.
“It was a great opportunity to be here with the Volvo CE team because they are making America strong,” said Rep. Joyce. “The ”I Make America” program that is implemented here has introduced me to so many hard-working men and women who understand the importance of construction and moving America’s economy forward. Additionally, the opportunities that the USMCA will create for expansion of Volvo CE is something that I strongly advocate for as I continue to work in Congress to support American workers and job creators here in PA-13 and throughout all of the United States.”
The USMCA is one of the top issues I Make America continues to advocate for during August recess, which is an annual time of year members of Congress spend visiting with their constituents back in their home districts and states. A recent U.S. International Trade Commission report shows that, once passed, the USMCA can help creating 176,000 jobs and add more than $68 billion to the U.S. economy.
The Pennsylvania lawmaker took time to tour the facility and even test drive a piece of Volvo’s equipment.
I Make America conducts dozens of similar events each year across the country with equipment manufacturers.
