|At the eight acre aggregate terminal in Long Beach, California (completed by late 2014), two of our transfer conveyors and a ThorStacker telescopic conveyor are on the job. The port is designed with ‘stiff legs’ supported on floating concrete caisson units to help with the mooring of ships.
High quality gravel from the self-unloading (or self-discharging) vessel is fed into the two transfer conveyors, which then finally reaches the ThorStacker.
The ThorStacker’s automation program helps it to stockpile material in concentric rows called windrows, thereby minimize segregation and increasing stockpile volume. The operator has the ability to set specific parameters based on a radial degree limit and extension retraction limit. This entire system is able to handle material at a rate of 2,500 STPH.
